Poetry quote reflection

This quote was written nicely. It gave me a great visual of what they were saying for what poetry is and it also was worded well. I agree with the writers quotes, especially when he says “poetry is  the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air.” This quote means that poetry frees you.

The Other Side

Have you ever heard someone talking on the phone and think “what are they talking about?” I do quite often. I always inference what is being said by the other person that makes the most sense, especially when my name is brought up on my side by my mom or dad. I remember listening to my mom on the phone multiple times talking to relatives and then hear my mom mention my name. This is what I think they are saying…

Other side- “How is that lovely, brilliant, and talented daughter of yours doing?”

My side- “Madison’s good, still swimming and keeping her grades up as usual.”

But it doesn’t go like that on the other side most likely. Heres what it actually sounds like…

Other side- “How are the kids?”

My side- “Madison’s good, still swimming and keeping her grades up as usual. Bailey’s still dirt biking also.”

My imagination can carry me way off of what is actually being said. Its not always the best idea to assume things, but it is quite fun to think what is being said on the other side. What kind of conversations have you heard on the other side?

Allergic reactions and their treatment

Allergic Reactions and their Treatment

Allergic reactions happen often and we need to know how to treat them. In this article you will learn how to treat multiple types of allergic reactions.

The Basics- How to Treat an Allergic Reaction
Lets start off with the basics, what is an allergic reaction? An allergic reaction is when your immune system identifies a substance as harmful when its not, causing an allergic reaction.(C+C) There are many types of allergic reactions, ranging on severity and side affects. Those depend on what your allergic to and how severe your allergy is. For example, if someone was allergic to a bee and got stung there are many symptoms you may experience including hives, flushed or pale skin, swelling, and many more. To treat a bee sting you need to take imidiate action if allergic. If the stinger is still in the sting, remove it as soon as possible. Next, clean the area with soap and water. Apply ice after to reduce swelling and pain. After, apply anti redness and itching creams and take an antihistamine for any itching and swelling.

Severity of Allergic Reactions
An allergic reaction should be taken serious because it could cause life or death to the person if imidiate action isn’t taken. An allergic reaction could be slight like a small stomach ache or small hives, but it could also be as severe as swelling of the throat and eyes. If slight symptoms occur, take over the counter medicines to reduce histamine reactions. Histamine is a compound released in response to an allergic reaction, causing contraction of smooth muscle and dilation of capillaries.(WG) If symptoms are severe, seek emergency medical treatment. If you have known severe allergies, its always best to carry an epi-pen.

The Different Kinds of Allergies
There are many different kinds of allergies. There are food allergies, animal and insect allergies, environmental allergies, and allergies to medicine. In the United States it is estimated that over 15 million Americans suffer from food allergies.(NS) A food allergy is when your body rejects the food you ate and cant process it correctly, thinking its harmful. As a result, it causes an allergic reaction. There are many ways to treat food allergic reactions, the most common one is an epi-pen. Epi-pens are used for allergic emergencies and injects a drug to reduce swelling. ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES!!!(EAL) Epi-pens can also be used for other allergy categories.

In Conclusion…
Allergies do suck, but we have to take precautions no matter what the severity is. Allergies affect many people world wide and thanks to doctors and scientist, we can treat them. Do you have an allergy?

What is word power?

Word power can be positive or negative. Positive word power is using words for good and the better. An example of positive Word Power is complimenting someone. For example, if you tell someone they look nice. It’s positive because it makes a positive impact. Negative word power is using words for bad uses and saying non respectful things. An example of negative word power is criticizing someone. For example, telling someone they look aweful. That’s negative because it makes a negative impact.

What is power?

There are many different kinds of power. One type of power is the position of power. (ex. Noun-a leader) Leaders are powerful because they are the boss of the group. They lead others for the better. In return, the group listens and follows the leader. The leader then gets what they wanted due to the others following. Another example of power in a leadership role is a bully. They aren’t doing something for the better, but they show strength and authority. The victim will listen, feeling a threat from the power issued from the bully.

“No task is too big when done together by all.”

The quote “no task is too big when done together by all” means that working with others and communicating is better than working alone. It gives you a chance to bounce ideas off of each other. It also helps with communication skills. In the real world, communication skills are very important and you need to know how to communicate with others. Communicating helps with daily life. For example, if you need help understanding a topic in school, you have to ask questions. When doing a school project you also need help with others and it will make the project easier. Like I said in a sentence above you can bounce ideas off of each other and overall your part of the project will be much nicer and easier to understand. That is what the quote “no task is too big when done together by all.”
